The RN Sociology for the Arts will feature regular sessions and several ad-hoc sessions at the 8th ESA-conference in Glasgow. Following the official conference theme , "Conflict, Citizenship and Civil Society", the board is especially looking for presentations in the following main fields:
Culture and the arts and European identity: The arts are associated with notions of belonging and citizenship, and might be a part of a civil society, fostering sustainable development
Culture and the arts and European conflicts: The arts are associated with migration, generation, gender, precarious labour, urban tension and cultural and religious intolerance. These social and economic conditions might hamper or foster artistic creativity.
Culture and the arts and European social, cultural and economic hegemonies: The arts are associated with inequality, discrimination, poverty and exclusion. Scopes and shapes of supporting the arts can reinforce inequalities, or support policies can actively be used to weaken inequalities (continue)
