Minutes from the Paris Meeting (April 2003)

Robert Witkin presented regrets from Anna Lisa Tota, chair of the network who could not be present due to family obligations and congratulated her on the birth of her first child. Tia DeNora, former chair, also sent regrets due to family obligations. Anna Lisa sent a message indicating that some late submissions could still be accepted for the next conference to be held in Murcia in September but that submissions must be made immediately. Robert and Alain noted the new announcement from the European Association of a policy of inclusiveness to encourage meeting participation. Anna Lisa sent a message to indicate that the research streams are so popular that she will possibly develop an additional parallel stream. Alain noted that the stream he is organizing on Pierre Bourdieu has a healthy number of proposals.

Jan Marontate, webmaster of the ESA web site, discussed development of the site and encourage members to use it. She also announced plans to seek a new webmaster. An announcement was made that Susanne Janssen has set up a list serve.

Robert announced that the executive of the Arts Research Networks has been developing close relationships with the Qualitative research network. A discussion followed about the functionality and desirability of strengthening ties with other networks. A discussion ensued regarding publication projects related to papers from the conference. Roberta Shapiro inquired about information for European subsidies for research. Alain Quemin suggested that she contact Anna Lisa Tota. Jan Marontate noted that some opportunities are posted on the ESA web site and Network web site. A discussion of the location of the next interim meeting location ensued. Bob Witkin moved that the meeting be returned. Jan Marontate seconded the motion. The meeting was adjourned.
